CVE-2026-89026
Issabel Framework Hard-coded JWT Key RCE via pbxapi/manager/originate
No known exploitation. EPSS puts it in the 50th percentile. No fix published yet.
What to do
No fixed build or workaround is published yet. Limit exposure and watch for a patch.
Steps
Written by AI from the record- Check your Issabel Framework version and confirm whether it is prior to b97dbaf0b71c1c36f841e672b664afbeb02773bd.
- If you are below the fixed version, upgrade Issabel Framework to fixed in b97dbaf0b71c1c36f841e672b664afbeb02773bd.
- If upgrading is delayed, immediately restrict access to the Issabel Framework web/HTTP(S) endpoints so they are not reachable from the open internet.
- After updating or access restriction, review your server logs for suspicious requests to pbxapi/manager/originate and any unexpected OS command activity.
What it is
From the CVE record
The Issabel Framework, the web framework supporting Issabel PBX software, before commit b97dbaf contains a hard-coded HS256 JWT signing key in the pbxapi index.php file that is identical across every installation, allowing unauthenticated remote attackers to forge valid bearer tokens. Attackers can use the forged token to call the manager originate endpoint with the System application parameter, causing Asterisk to execute arbitrary OS commands as the Asterisk user. Exploitation evidence was first observed by the Shadowserver Foundation on 2026-09-09.
In plain language
Written by AI from the recordCVE-2026-89026 is a serious Issabel Framework flaw that lets an internet attacker log in without credentials and run commands on your phone system’s server; if you use Issabel Framework and it’s not updated, you should treat this as urgent.
Unauthenticated remote code execution in Issabel Framework (via pbxapi/manager/originate) where a hard-coded, identical JWT signing key lets attackers forge administrator-like bearer tokens and trigger the manager originate path to execute arbitrary OS commands.
